I was reminded of this quote over the past weekend as I watched the number of views of an MLB video about my hero, Jack Buck, climb and climb and climb.

I've been reading Mister Rogers a lot lately (don't ask!).
What I'll say, though, is he is a fascinating, loving, and enlightened person. I liked the show growing up, but now that I am grown up, like the man behind it even more. Fred has an awful lot to teach us on how to be nice to our neighbors and be better kids.
But don't discount how much he has to teach each one of us on our ability each day to be better neighbors, spouses, partners, friends and leaders in life.
Turns out, as he reminds us above, that the words we use in writing, in speaking, and into the reflection in the mirror do matter.
Make sure the words you choose to use to your neighbors breathe life, hope, and possibility into them...rather than sowing seeds of conflict, resentment and war.

At a swim party this weekend a girl (about 8) was telling me how great it was to be able to get back in the water. She'd broken her arm, been in a cast for several weeks and it had just been removed.
After I told her how sorry I was about her arm, she replied that it was alright....she could swim again. And besides, the doctor told her it is even stronger now than it's ever been.
My friends, I think what this little one knew to be true for her bones, is also true for our lives.
No one likes enduring pain, struggle or brokenness.
And yet in the healing of that injury, hurt or heartache we grow in compassion, character, courage, resolve and love.
The pool is open today. Jump back in and know that your best is yet to come.
