JOHN..WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU HAVE A TEENAGER WHO IS HABITUALLY NEGATIVE? NO MATTER WHAT IS GOING ON IN HIS LIFE, HE ALWAYS EXPECTS THE WORST, EVEN THOUGH HIS FATHER AND I HAVE NEVER PUT THOSE THOUGHTS IN HIS HEAD. WE’VE ALWAYS TOLD HIM HE COULD DO ANYTHING HE WANTS, HE JUST HAS TO TRY, AND IT MAKES NO IMPACT.
BTW, SAW YOU AT HIS SCHOOL A FEW WEEKS BACK AND HAVE BEEN SO INSPIRED. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO.

John, I’ve needed you in my life for quite some time! Honestly, I haven’t read all of the challenges due to work, family, life, etc. but I chose to read this challenge, on this particular day, and I have new found motivation to work on my attitude….cause as you well know….attitude is everything!! Thank you for what you’re doing. You truly are an inspiration!!!

John,
The conference and God’s gift to me of hearing you speak and your Spark Challenges have already given me a new energy and feeling good and my prayer partners and I are reaching out to each other every day!

I used to write down positive affirmations and I quit doing that as well…until now and I will do what you say and report back to my God and you. Thanks for all you do!

John, .. I felt energy come back into ‘me’ with this … I have always felt this way .. yet negative speak had crept into my life … well … negative speak is out the door … as of ‘now’ !! thank You John. … robb

I so agree that negative thought and talk wear a person down. I try very hard to free my vocabulary of negative talk. My children keep telling me they can’t do something. I look at them and tell them they are right they can’t with that attitude. I also tell them don’t tell me you can’t because I don’t believe that for a minuet, tell me you don’t want to and I will believe that. There is such a difference between those phrases. One of my favorite phrases is Can’t never accomplished anything but I CAN accomplishes everything. I CAN is a phrase I totally believe in.

John,

You are so absolutely correct here! Negativity can spread as easily as an infection in an open wound, and we can “catch” it very subtly and be overwhelmed by it before we realize what is happening. Your video just emphasizes and reiterates the timeless value of the words written by Paul to the church at Philippi in the first century: “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (NASB)

Thank you SO much for sharing your positive message with us and for your encouragement in my life!

Kim 🙂

AMEN Kim! John… I agree totally with what you and Kim have said. Thank you for restating it again and helping me to refocus once more!

John, you have made such a positive impact on my heart in the short time since you spoke to our school staff in Granite City. You are an inspiration and a blessing; thank God for you!

Good stuff, John. Have you read “What to Say When You Talk to Yourself” by Dr. Shad Helmstetter. A great resource for self-talk and re-phrasing your commonly used comments.

Arby – – havent read the book by Helmstetter – – but i just ordered it on your recommendation…I am wide open to learn from an expert! Thanks for sharing with me! J

Beautiful. I believe a positive attitude overcomes just about everything – this was a wonderful reminder. Thank you, John.

Julie
