Break Down the Stigma Around Mental Health
“Life is a gift, that is why they call it the present. Cherish it always.” – Kevin Hines [Tweet this] | [Share on Facebook]
A few months ago, I learned the tragic news that two of my friends had taken their own lives.
These two men did not know each other. They were in different stages of life, different careers, different family situations. And yet, they were two guys I knew, two guys I loved, two guys I looked up to.
And two guys whom I thought had everything in life going for them.
As I grieved their loss, put on my suit and hugged their family members, I reflected on how many people suffer silently from mental health issues and how many of their friends and family members struggle mightily to help them… and sometimes struggle even knowing what help can and should look like.
If you seek to better understand and support the people in your life dealing with mental health issues, or you yourself struggle to live inspired in the face of mental illness, my most recent Live Inspired Podcast episode is a must-listen.
My guest, Kevin Hines, suffers from bipolar disorder. During a season when he did not have the resources he needed, he attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.
Today, he is ON FIRE for life and is a prominent suicide prevention and awareness activist.
Kevin is uniquely equipped to help us break down the stigma around mental health and identify ways to assist those struggling and suffering.
His story is one of hope, faith and thriving despite the pain. And I’m so excited to share it with you. Check out Live Inspired Podcast Ep. 164 here.
Today is your day. Life is a gift.
