ParticipantFirst off, I am so thankful that you host these on Monday mornings. What a great way to frame the week.
Most meaningful takeaway for me, BY FAR, was the quote: With awareness there is choice. Without awareness, there is only habit.
I don’t know why, but I picture Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid saying that to Daniel-son.
So true. Without stepping back and thinking consciously about how I am going to go about this day, this week, the next hour, I would revert to what I habitually do, the way I normally approach things….good or bad.
Awareness forces me to think about things a different way. To approach each event in my day…a conversation, a to-do, a meeting, an interaction with my daughters who are luckily still sleeping downstairs but will eventually awake… a different way. The right way. Not just based on the emotions or feelings that I might have in a given moment.
Thanks for a great session.

Keymasterkropfkm, we are thrilled that you are benefiting by these webcasts and that they start that week off in a positive light for you. Being fully aware, as you say, “Awareness forces me to think about things a different way.” is such a powerful consciousness that can make a huge impact in our daily living. I think of it the same way I think of “mindless eating” – if not fully aware, that bag of chips I started eating is then empty. Like you, I am working towards making sure my day isn’t just mindless, that I am living each day fully aware and that choices and actions are thoughtful rather than on autopilot. Glad you enjoyed the session!

ParticipantToday’s discussion of “Conscious Leadership” encourages me to OWN the leadership opportunities that are showing up in my life. I am in leadership in our Parish and in our retreat community as well as informally in smaller groups. These all seem to be pointing in the same direction and today’s discussion encourages me to be BOLD in my leadership and not shrink from the tasks in front of me. Instead of waiting to be confirmed in what I feel I’m being led to I need to SEE it, OWN it, SOLVE it and TAKE ACTION.

ParticipantI especially liked the Albert Einstein quote: “The world we have made as a result of the level of thinking we have done thus far creates problems we cannot solve at the same level at which we created them.” John’s words after that quote about “elevating” our thinking/acting is what I needed to hear today. And it ties into the last webcast about continuing to challenge the way things have always been done through the questions: Why? Says who? What do you see? and What if? In my work in urban Cleveland, it’s easy to lose hope with the years and years of poor outcomes and little progress on education, health and safety. John’s words and ideas challenge me not to lose hope, but to help elevate the knowledge and approach about possible solutions.

KeymasterGreat takeaway Amy! Our next webcast will actually focus on the Power of Hope, to help further elevate how we see life, our approaches, attitudes and responses to it.
