  • Being raised in Greece, Christina aspired to be an artist as she struggled through the strict schooling system before leaving to live with her great aunt in the United Kingdom at 18 years old.
  • A lifetime left. After receiving a clean bill of health, Christina’s 31-year-old husband Bjarne was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away at 35 years old and Christina yearned for the lifetime of memories lost.
  • “The theory of grief and the reality of grief are two totally different things.”
  • Bridge builder: While suffering this devastating loss, Christina could visually see herself crossing a bridge and helping those suffering across.
  • “In our everyday life, there is always an opportunity to take charge of something that is not working.”
  • Christina helps others step outside the “waiting room,” the place between the life you left behind because of what happened and the life you could have.
  • Exit the waiting room and start living again. Christina encourages us to “cleanse” by either sitting down with someone we trust who will listen until we stop, or write without self-editing.
